Cynthia DeWild is a fine art wildlife and nature photographer based in the Chattanooga Tennessee area whose work explores the connection between stillness, nature, and the human spirit. After a career as a registered nurse and a journey through cancer where she faced her own mortality, she turned fully towards photography as a way of inviting others to slow down and reconnect with nature’s beauty and experience the healing found in the natural world.

Working throughout the Southern Appalachians and North America’s wild landscapes, Cynthia creates atmospheric wildlife and landscape imagery that blends emotion, light, and presence. Her photographs often focus on moments of eye contact, silence, atmospheric elements, and the unseen relationship between humanity and the living world. Through her ongoing body of work, Wild Stillness, she seeks to preserve the‍ wildness of nature while offering viewers a sense of peace, reflection, and awe.

She serves on the board of Directors for the Photographic Society of Chattanooga and is an active member of the Association of Visual Arts. She has participated in educational programs through regional and national photography organizations, including the Professional Photographers of America. Her work has been exhibited in regional galleries and juried exhibitions, including the Blue Ridge Arts Center.

In addition to fine art photography, Cynthia has photographed for non-profit organizations including Hospice of Chattanooga, Love Without Reason, Chattanooga Autism, and Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.

Her work is rooted in the belief that nature can restore, heal, and remind us of our eternal connection to something greater than ourselves.

Through prints, exhibitions, and workshops Cynthia hopes her images bring a sense of peace, and a stillness that exists within the Wild.
